Angela

I took my mother and her sister to the Forge Market in Glasgow today to return a game that my mother had purchased as a Christmas present.

The reason for returning the item was that she saw it in another store for £4 less. The stall owner was very abrasive and told my mother she had no legal obligation to refund and asked my mother if she could see any notices that said she'd price match.

My mother then asked how she could justify such a difference in price and the stall owner began shouting into my mother’s face telling her that she probably saw the item cheaper in some Paki shop, she then went on to scream that Pakis did not pay taxes and she did.

I then intervened and said that she could not say things like that and apart from being abusive to two senior citizens (aged 71 and 76) she was in fact being racist, she told me that she could say what she liked and invited me to complain about her. I did, to the management of the Forge Market, who asked me to fill out a complaint form.

I filled out the form with the main complaint which I believe was her verbal assault on two old ladies and the Pakistani race who had nothing to do with this fiasco.

As a matter of interest the cheaper item was spotted in Guthries Ironmongers in Kirkintilloch and the racism jibe came from nowhere as we are very obviously white. She obviously has a thing about Pakistani businesses.
