What's going on around the UK?

There are events and activities commemorating the abolition of the slave trade all over the UK. There is a cross-governmental group comprising officials from various UK Government Departments to coordinate contributions from different faith, community, municipal and cultural organisations around the UK to the bicentenary commemoration. The Scottish Government is a member of this group.

The Deputy Prime Minister also chaired an informal advisory group of influential stakeholders. This group provided a sounding board for Ministers to discuss how best to commemorate the bicentenary. The group's membership included local and national organisations; representatives from churches, and from the voluntary and charity sector
