The Guardian (ICM): Muslim Poll (June 2002)
A telephone poll of Muslims in Britain focussing on issues relating to international conflicts, asylum and immigration, racism and the position of Muslims in Britain.
Main relevant findings:
- 72% of Muslims in Britain are fairly or very concerned about asylum and immigration into Britain.
- 35% have experienced hostility or abuse towards themselves or a family member because of their religion.
- 61% think that relations between Muslims and non-Muslims have deteriorated since September 11th.
- 41% think that the Muslim community in Britain needs to do more to integrate into mainstream British culture.
- 85% think there should be a new law banning discrimination on religious grounds.
